Conor McGregor ordered to pay speeding fine after being compelled to appear in court

He appeared in court today

Conor McGregor has been ordered to pay a €400 speeding fine, after being compelled to turn up at court this morning.

The UFC star was due to appear in Blanchardstown District Court earlier this morning, but he skipped out on the appearance, and sent his solicitor to handle the case.

However, when his solicitor Graham Kenny said that Conor was pleading guilty – Judge Miriam Walsh demanded that the sports star appear in court immediately.

According to Independent.ie, the Judge said, “I’m getting nothing but fingers from Mr McGregor, if he wants to make a case he has to be here.”

“This is absolute disrespect to the court,” she said, before warning that a “bench warrant will be coming his way” if he didn’t show up.

The MMA fighter was charged with exceeding the 100kph speed limit on the N7 Naas Road at Rathcoole back on March 31, which is an offence under Section 7 of the Road Traffic Act 2004.

After the Judge ordered for Conor’s presence, his lawyers called him immediately – and the UFC star showed up in a flashy sports car, wearing an Adidas tracksuit.

In a bizarre turn of events, Conor posted a picture on Instagram of him and his lawyer Graham Kenny in a consultation room at the courthouse, and made sure to promote his clothing line by writing, “Thanks Graham Kenny drag me out of bed but fuck it we look fresh @augustxmcgregor.”

The Crumlin native also posted a picture of the BMW sports car he showed up in, writing, “Getting charged in the super charge. #courthouse #relaxjudge.”

He also posted a paparazzi picture of his exiting the courthouse, in which he covered half his face with his hood.

In court, Garda William Dempsey said that he detected Conor doing 158km per hour on the Naas Road on March 31, and a fixed penalty notice was issued to him – but it wasn’t paid.

Taking the stand in court, Conor was asked if he had heard how fast he was going, and he replied, “I can’t remember to be honest but I tried my best to pay it. I don’t know why it didn’t pay.”

After the Judge accepted Conor’s guilty plea, she asked, “As is my normal question in relation to the fine I have to ask you a question -how much do you earn? And don’t tell me you earn €110m in one day.”

Conor and people in the courtroom laughed, before he replied, “Well, 140.”

Conor was fined €400, and the Judge gave him two months to pay, and said that he could “pay by instalments”.
