Conor McGregor paid tribute to plumbers everywhere as he led the charge at the Chicago St Patrick’s Day parade.

The UFC star led the parade alongside Chicago’s mayor and Taoiseach Leo Varadkar.

The businessman was a surprise guest at the annual festival and was spotted holding a plunger to represent plumbers.

Conor paid tribute to plumbers worldwide

The MMA champion said: “I’m very grateful to the people of Chicago and of course the plumbers who got me here because I used to be a plumber back at home in Ireland.

“That’s what I did before I started fighting so the plumbers are the ones that got me here.

“The plumbers are the guys who dyed the river green,” Conor added.

And the 30-year-old shared his own photos from the parade, taking to Instagram to thank the people of Chicago.

“Leading the charge for the St. Patrick’s day Parade here in the great city of Chicago,” he wrote.

“Thank you to my friends Jim and Michelle and the entire plumbers unions, and also the City’s Mayor, Mayor Rahm Emanuel. Thank you so much for the hospitality! What a city! What a parade!

“What an honour!! I am one proud Irishman today, and everyday, thank you all so much! Slainte.”
