Cillian Murphy becomes the new face of Versace after Oscars win

Cillian Murphy has become the new face of Versace.

The high-fashion brand has announced the Irish actor as the new talent of Versace Icons.

This comes after the 47-year-old took home the golden statuette for Best Actor at the 96th Academy Awards on Sunday night.

The actor who won for his portrayal of Robert J. Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s biopic that follows the life of the nuclear physicist, wore custom Atelier Versace to the awards over the weekend.

Speaking about the partnership, Versace creative director Donatella Versace said: “I am thrilled that Cillian is joining the Versace family.”

“He is a truly exceptional actor and totaly deserves his Oscar win. He is magnetic and mesmerizing in front of a camera and I loved seeing him bring Versace to life.”

Cillian recently swept awards season after winning Best Actor at the Golden Globes, SAG Awards and BAFTA’s.

The Peaky Blinders actor went up against Bradley Cooper, Colman Domingo, Paul Giamatti and Jeffrey Wright on Sunday night.

The others were nominated for their respective roles in Maestro, Rustin, The Holdovers and American Fiction.

Oppenheimer led the field in this year’s Academy Awards with 13 Oscar nominations and seven wins.

Cillian’s co-star Robert Downey Jr also took home the award for Best Supporting Actor.
