Brian O'Driscoll: 'It's fun and games with baby Billy – he's keeping me and Amy up all night'

Rugby hero Brian O’Driscoll has revealed daughter Sadie is finally taking an interest in her new baby brother Billy.

The ex-Ireland player was delighted when wife Amy Huberman gave birth to their second child last month – but revealed 22-month-old Sadie was less than interested.

And BOD, speaking for the first time about the new arrival, said it is still “fun and games” time in their household and described his son as a “bit of a grower”.

He added: “Billy is a bit of a grower. Sadie is a bit oblivious to it all and really couldn’t have cared less for the first few weeks but now she’s taking more of an interest in him.”

And Brian, 35, also revealed Billie is still keeping him and wife Amy Huberman up all night.

He added: “Billy is great. But just when you think you have it sorted, they trick you and they stay up for the night. It’s still the fun and games time.”

Meanwhile, the rugby legend also revealed he was “flattered” by the success of his autobiography The Test which recently won Book of the Year at the Irish Book Awards in November.

He said: “There’s great competition, every year. We produce some great sports books in Ireland and people have a lot of really great stories to tell so to win against that competition is obviously very flattering.”

And BOD said he is loving his new move into radio and TV commentary after retiring.

He said: “I’m really enjoying it, it doesn’t take over my life. Rather than on a Monday morning, meeting and talking to teammates, I’m talking to them on the telly.

“It’s different, I’m still finding my way but I’m really enjoying the radio stuff in particular.”

He was speaking on the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show on Today FM, where he was presented with the Man of the Year Award.
