Amanda Byram admits: 'I'm still open to having kids'

Amanda Byram has revealed that she is still open to having kids.

The 42-year-old thought she had left it too late to start a family when she ended a serious relationship at age 38.

However, now that she is happily settled with TV producer Julian Okines, the TV star is rethinking things.

“Look, I’m 42. And I never really wanted to go down that road until I was really, really sure I had met the right person,” she said.

“I think there are choices you make as a woman, you can choose to do it by yourself, to do it with somebody even if you are not convinced they are the right person.”

“Or you can wait for the right person and then maybe find it is too late. We have been together a year-and-a-half.”

“I’m fit, I’m healthy, there are no problems in that sense. So who knows? It’s in the hands of the gods.”

Meanwhile, Amanda also admitted that she’d love the chance to host a primetime chat show in Ireland – but reckons that late night TV is still a man’s world.

“Sure, I’d love to do a primetime show, a chat show, for instance. But it is a very hard business because the primetime chat show is still perceived as a man’s world,” she told The Irish Independent.

“And it’s just such a crazy notion, I can’t fathom it, it pisses me off no end. Women are stronger than we have ever been, more ballsy than we have ever been, funnier than we have ever been.”
