Aidan Turner: 'I represented Ireland in ballroom and Latin-American dancing'

Irish actor Aidan Turner has admitted he was a competitive ballroom and Latin-American dancer.

The Poldark hunk revealed he began his career dancing when he was six-years-old and won a number of competitions.

“I was six when I started. I represented Ireland in ballroom and Latin-American dancing for 10 years,” he said.

The twinkle-toed star admitted although he didn’t enjoy his time on the dancefloor – his competitive side took over and he enjoyed winning.

“I sort of hated it. Then suddenly you start winning, and, well, I’m quite a competitive person,” he told Vanity Fair.

It’s clear his dance training helped shape his now famous Ross Poldark physique however the Dublin native still hasn’t got his head around his new found sex symbol status.

“It is slightly awkward. I will never be fully at ease with it,” he said honestly.
