New royal biography reveals why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle fired Archie’s nurse in the middle of the night

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were forced to fire their one-year-old son Archie’s nurse in the middle of the night – according to royal biography Finding Freedom.

The highly anticipated book, written by royal watchers Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, was released today – sharing insights into the life of the couple.

According to a new excerpt from the book, the Duke and Duchess fired their son’s night nurse after she was deemed “irresponsible” and “unprofessional”.

“Meghan and Harry were forced to let the nurse go in the middle of her second night of work for being unprofessional and irresponsible,” the authors wrote.

After the incident, the couple reportedly hired a second night nurse who “did a fine job” – but they were still uncomfortable trusting another person with their child.

“Neither found themselves comfortable sleeping through the night without going to check on Archie regularly,” the authors claimed – adding that they instead hired a daytime nanny while they looked after the night shifts.

“Harry and Meghan had agreed they didn’t want their home filled with staff,” the book continued.

“Harry had seen that situation at Prince William’s home and didn’t want the same for his own family.”

“He and Meghan liked the idea that when they went to bed at night, it was just the three of them in the house. Cosy and private.”

A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan released a statement ahead of the book’s publication which read: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not interviewed and did not contribute to Finding Freedom.”

“This book is based on the authors’ own experiences as members of the royal press corps and their own independent reporting.”
