WATCH: Zac Efron stuns as serial killer Ted Bundy in first official trailer

The actor stars as a serial killer in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile

The first official trailer for Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile has finally been released.

The film is based on true events, as it follows America’s most notorious serial killer Ted Bundy (played by Zac Efron) as he secretly carried out horrific murders in the 1970s.

The film, which also stars Lily Collins as Ted’s girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer, was directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Joe Berlinger.

The synopsis for the film reads, “A picture of domestic bliss, the happy couple seems to have it all figured out… until, out of nowhere, their perfect life is shattered.”

“Ted is arrested and charged with a series of increasingly grisly murders. Concern soon turns to paranoia – and, as evidence piles up, Liz is forced to consider that the man with whom she shares her life could actually be a psychopath.”

The trailer was released ahead of the film’s world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival today.

The news comes after Netflix released a shocking documentary about the serial killer, to mark the 30th anniversary of his execution in 1989.
