Prometheus sequel synopsis confirms Michael Fassbender's fate

Ridley Scott has officially announced the name of the sequel to 2012’s Prometheus as well as releasing the film’s official synopsis, confirming Michael Fassbender’s robot character’s fate.

In an interview at the AFI film festival late last week, the director told the audience that the 2017 film is now known as Alien: Covenant.

The fate of Michael’s character David was unveiled as the synopsis teases that the “synthetic” David will be found living on a “dark, dangerous” planet alone.

“Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in Alien with Alien: Covenant, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction.

“Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”

The movie has had a difficult development stage, changing its name from Prometheus 2, to Alien: Paradise Lost, and now finally as Alien: Covenant.

As well as that, the film’s script is currently being re-written by Spectre writer John Logan.

The name was confirmed this morning in a tweet by the official 20th Century Fox Twitter account, with filming beginning early next year for its release in October 2017.
