Tory Lanez maintains his innocence after being sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion

Tory Lanez has broken his silence, after being sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.

The rapper was sentenced on Tuesday after a Los Angeles jury found him guilty of assaulting Megan with a semi-automatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

In his first statement since his sentencing, the 31-year-old wrote: “I have never let a hard time intimidate me. I will never let no jail time eliminate me. Regardless of how they try to spin my words, I have always maintained my innocence and I always will.”

“This week in court I took responsibility for all verbal and intimate moments that I shared with the parties involved… That’s it,” he continued.

“In no way, shape, or form was I apologizing for the charges I’m being wrongfully convicted of. I remain on the stance that I refuse to apologize for something that I did not do.”

“I’ve faced adversity my whole life and every time it looked like I would lose, I came out on top. This is nothing but another moment where my back is against the wall and I refuse to stop fighting till I come out victorious. Tough times don’t last, tough people do.”

He ended his statement by thanking his family, friends and fans for their support, adding “see you soon”.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on July 12th, 2020 – when Tory, Megan and her former assistant Kelsey Harris left a pool party at Kylie Jenner’s home in Los Angeles.

During the trial, the jury heard how an argument broke out between them, and Megan left an SUV they were in.

While Megan started walking away, she heard Lanez shout, “Dance, bitch!” as he allegedly started shooting a 9mm pistol at her feet.

The Sweetest Pie rapper was later hospitalised and underwent surgery.

Megan did not attend the sentencing earlier this week, but Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Kathy Ta read a statement on her behalf that said: “Since I was viciously shot by the defendant, I have not experienced a single day of peace.”

“Slowly but surely, I’m healing and coming back, but I will never be the same.”

In July 2020, Megan told fans she was “grateful to be alive” after she was shot in the feet during an incident in the Hollywood Hills.

Weeks later, the 28-year-old claimed Tory was the one who pulled the trigger, after they got into an argument on the way home from a party at Kylie Jenner’s house.
