Sex and the City cast admit they filmed fake scenes for the reboot to throw fans off

The Sex and the City cast have revealed they filmed fake scenes for the ‘And Just Like That…’ reboot to throw fans off.

The first two episodes of the new series premiered earlier this week, and fans were left shocked by the death of a major character.

Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, who play Miranda Hobbs and Charlotte York on the show, spoke to chat show host Stephen Colbert about how they kept the plot a secret while filming in New York.

Stephen asked the duo about whether the rumours of “fake scenes” were true, and while Cynthia replied: “Absolutely not!” Kristin responded: “Yes, definitely.”

Cynthia then admitted: “It might be true.”

Kristin explained: “We want the fans to enjoy the show. I think that’s the important part. You know, like, we don’t want them to know… we don’t want them to read the Cliffs Notes beforehand!”

Speaking about filming the reboot during a pandemic, Cynthia added: “I have to say, we started shooting in July, and the city was just coming out of the lockdown. So it was so amazing for us to be back playing these characters.”

“But, also, I think it was exciting for people, and it was obviously very exciting for us to see people on the street watching us because it felt like New York coming back.”

While Cynthia, Kristin and Sarah Jessica Parker (who plays Carrie Bradshaw) all reprised their roles for the revival series, their former co-star Kim Cattrall did not return as Samantha Jones.

In the first episode of And Just Like That, Miranda, Carrie and Charlotte discuss Samatha’s absence – revealing she moved to London.

Carrie also reveals she had a fall-out with her ex-bestie, telling Miranda: “I told her that, you know, because of what the book business is now, it just didn’t make sense for me to keep her on as a publicist. She said ‘fine,’ and then fired me as a friend.”

“I always thought the four of us would be friends forever,” she added.
