Robin Williams’ son leads tributes to the late actor on what would’ve been his 70th birthday

Robin Williams’ son Zak has lead tributes to the late actor on what would’ve been his 70th birthday.

The Mrs Doubtfire star tragically took his own life in 2014 at the age of 63, following a battle with the debilitating brain disease Lewy body dementia.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Zak shared a black-and-white photo of his father, and wrote: “Dad, on what would be your 70th birthday, I would want you to know that your incredible spirit lives within us.”

“Our family will be celebrating you and your memory today. We miss you and love you always!” he added.

Zak appeared on Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey’s Apple+ series ‘The Me You Can’t See: A Path Forward’ back in May, where he opened up about the death of his famous father.

The 38-year-old said: “For my end, it was really hard to separate the initial process of privately grieving versus sharing the grieving with the general public, both the American public and the world.”

“I had trouble differentiating that grieving process at first. It was really challenging for me. I found myself really emotionally dysregulated, feeling vulnerable and exposed when I wasn’t ready to be vulnerable. That created a major challenge for me.”

“I didn’t recognize that I needed to grieve privately, and so I’m very thankful and appreciative that I did recognize how to set boundaries, I hope they’re health boundaries, around grieving personally versus grieving as a community, grieving with the public, grieving with the world.

“I needed that, and I didn’t pick up on that initially,” Zak admitted.
