Robert De Niro has confirmed his split from Grace Hightower.
The couple were together for 21 years and have two children together, Elliot, aged 20, and Helen, who is six-years-old.
The news broke last week, but the actor has now officially confirmed the split as he released a statement to People which said: “Grace and I have two beautiful children together. We are entering a period of transition in our relationship which is a difficult but constructive process.”
“I honour Grace as a wonderful mother and ask for privacy and respect from all as we proceed to develop our roles as partners in parenting,” the 75-year-old continued.
The couple wed in 1997, before Robert initially filed for divorce in 1999 and the pair later reconciled before the divorce was finalised.
