Disney’s Marvel Studios have announced that Natalie Portman will play a female version of Thor in the upcoming film in the series.
The actress will return as her role of Jane Foster, but this time will become a goddess of thunder in the third flick.
The revelation was made at International Comic Con in San Diago this weekend.
“Feels pretty good. I’ve always had a little hammer in me,” Portman said of her character’s development.
Her role previously player opposite male lead Chris Hemsworth as his love interest.
Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson will also be returning for the third installment in the franchise.
Walt Disney’s Marvel Studios also revealed a number of upcoming superhero films at the convention.
Black Widow fans rejoiced as a solo film was announced for Scarlett Johansson’s character.
The Eternals starring Angelina Jolie and Blade featuring Oscar winner Mahershala Ali were also revealed.
