Modern Family set to END after 10 years

It has been confirmed that Modern Family will end after they film their 11th season.

The hit TV show premiered in 2009 and has won various Primetime Emmy Awards over the last 10 years – including Best Comedy five years in a row.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Executive producer Christopher Lloyd said: “For 10 years, our characters have bravely faced turning points in life and moved through them to great personal enrichment; we have chosen a different path by doing one more season of Modern Family.”

The comedy show remains ABC’s number-two rated comedy and attracts more than 5 million viewers each week on average.

The AMC Entertainment president Karey Burke praised the show’s writers, she said: “Chris and Steve have created one of the most seminal and iconic comedies in television history.”

She continued to: “In its final season, there will be more milestone events that anyone who has been a fan of the series won’t want to miss” to which she is referring to Sarah Hyland’s character who became pregnant in the most recent season.

Modern Family cast members took to Twitter to comment on the news, Jesse Tyler Ferguson wrote: “Will be hard to say goodbye. Love my family.”

Rico Rodriguez also tweeted: “What an amazing ride this has been! Can’t wait to return for a final season with my @ModernFam.”
