Marilyn Manson speaks out after multiple women accuse him of abuse

Marilyn Manson has spoken out after multiple women accused him of abuse.

On Monday, Evan Rachel Wood accused her ex-fiancé of “grooming” her and “horrifically abusing her for years” in an Instagram post.

The former couple began dating back in 2007 when Evan was 19 and Marilyn, who’s real name is Brian Warner, was 37.

The musician and the actress were briefly engaged in 2010, before breaking off their engagement less than a year later.

Evan has previously opened up about being in abusive relationships, but did not identify her abusers.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, the 33-year-old claimed her abuser was her ex-fiancé Marilyn, with other women coming forward with allegations of abuse by the alternative metal star.

Addressing the claims, the 52-year-old released a statement via social media, where he insisted his relationships “have always been entirely consensual”.

He wrote: “Obviously, my art and my life have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality.”

“My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how – and why – others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the truth.”

Following the accusations made against Marilyn, Loma Vista Recordings released a statement revealing they would no longer be working with the artist.

They said: “In light of today’s disturbing allegations by Evan Rachel Wood and other women naming Marilyn Manson as their abuser, Loma Vista will cease to further promote his current album, effective immediately.”

“Due to these concerning developments, we have also decided not to work with Marilyn Manson on any future projects.”

US TV network Starz also released a statement, revealing Marilyn’s guest appearance in the fantasy series American Gods would be removed from the upcoming episode.

They said: “Due to the allegations made against Marilyn Manson, we have decided to remove his performance from the remaining episode he is in, scheduled to air later this season.

“Starz stands unequivocally with all victims and survivors of abuse.”
