Kanye West claims God told him to interrupt Taylor Swift’s 2009 VMA speech

Kanye West has claimed that God told him to interrupt Taylor Swift’s speech at the 2009 MTV VMAs.

The infamous moment saw Kanye step onto the stage while Taylor was awarded Best Female Video for ‘You Belong With Me’, where the rapper claimed that Beyoncé should have won for her ‘Single Ladies’ video.

Speaking about the controversial moment with Nick Cannon on his Cannon’s Class podcast, Kanye said: “Right now, God is giving me the information.

“If God ain’t want me to run on stage and say Beyoncé had the best video, he wouldn’t have sat me in the front row. I would’ve been sitting in the back,” he added.

“It wouldn’t have made it so ridiculous of an idea because I had never heard of this person before. And Single Ladies is, like, one of the greatest videos of all time.”

Kanye appeared on stage with a bottle of Hennessy in hand, which he addressed to Nick Cannon: “I was only drinking Hennessy because I didn’t want to go to the awards show because it was a set-up.”

In the infamous clip, Kanye grabs the microphone from Taylor mid-speech and says: “Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’m gonna let you finish.

“But Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!” Kanye insisted.

Kanye and Taylor later patched things up, but their feud was reignited in 2016 when Kanye released a song called ‘Famous’, which included the lyrics, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b***h famous.”

After releasing the song, Taylor claimed that Kanye never got her permission to call her a “b***h” in the song – and it sparked one of the biggest celebrity feuds of the 21st century.

Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian then got involved, by releasing a series of videos on her Snapchat Story – showing Kanye and Taylor discussing the lyrics over the phone while he was recording the track in the studio.

The songstress was dubbed a “snake” by Kim following the controversy – which led to her being trolled online, causing her to take a break from the limelight.

Most recently, Taylor Swift fans were convinced they stumbled upon a subtle dig towards Kanye West on her new album Folklore.

In a new song called ‘Peace’, fans think she has got back at Kanye by calling him a “clown”.

The song’s lyrics read: “But there’s robbers to the east, clowns to the West” – and fans are wondering if “West” is in reference to the rapper’s surname.

One Twitter user wrote: “The fact that @taylorswift13‘s lyric in Peace is ‘robbers in the east and there’s clowns to the West’ like she didn’t just call Kanye West a clown is amazing.”

Another shared: “I wonder if it’s a coincidence or if she really snapped and called Kanye and his fan clowns #folklore.”
