Erika Jayne reveals why she ‘left’ her ex-husband Tom Girardi

Erika Jayne has revealed why she “left” her ex-husband Tom Girardi.

The singer filed for divorce from the 82-year-old attorney in November, after 21 years of marriage.

During the latest episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, the 49-year-old decided to address “the elephant in the room” regarding her shock divorce with the other housewives.

She said: “My life drastically changed this week. I let go of my Lamborghini, I let go of my 16,000-square-foot home, I let go of my marriage – I let go of everything. I literally made a decision that I had to.”

During her confessional, Erika explained: “I left because he pushed me further and further out. The conversations that I used to have were now reduced down to a sentence or two.”

“I just kept walking around that house and knowing that this marriage was headed down a really s***** path, I had to make a choice to do what was right for me. I couldn’t live that way anymore.”

The reality star told the group that she didn’t tell them what was really going on in her marriage “on purpose” because it would have put them “in a bad position.”

“I didn’t want to do that and that’s the truth. It also doesn’t serve me to talk a lot about what is happening legally or will happen legally because I am married to somebody who’s very good in that area.”

In her confessional, Erika added that she struggled with the decision to end her marriage “for a long time”, and when she finally decided she “cried every day”.

“This was the end of a massive part of my life, stepping into basically a void,” she said.

Erika claimed she “tried to talk and tried to work it out” with her husband, but said she was “met with such resistance to such resistance” and felt her feelings were “always dismissed”.

“After finding a place to go to, I dropped him off at work and I went home and moved out,” she recalled. “I was out within the day. It’s frightening, you know, when you think about it.”

Sharing a glimpse at her new downsized home, Erika said: “It’s the uncertainty and the instability of being, you know, really out on your own.”

“So to all of a sudden live somewhere else and know that you’re never going home, you know, for now, this is home. Hope you chose wisely, this is it.”

Erika admitted “getting up the courage to leave is a big deal,” explaining: “There’s always that underlying pressure of wanting to please someone that’s provided for you. And I felt always that I should shut up and be grateful to an extent.”

Speaking to Lisa Rinna, the mum-of-one said: “It’s insanity. I’ve not felt this vulnerable in maybe never. I really tried and talked and attempted. So he left me no room, and that’s the only way I can say it right now.”

Erika revealed she “didn’t leave a note” for Tom when she left, explaining: “I drove him to work and I told him I loved him. And he said, ‘Thanks, hun,’ like I was an employee. That day was the last time she saw Tom.”

“I went home and started putting everything in the moving van. I drove off, went to my new place, spent the night there and he was served the next morning.”

Since Erika filed for divorce in Novmeber, Tom has been caught up in a lot of legal drama – and is currently facing numerous lawsuits.

A month after their shocking split, Tom and Erika were sued for allegedly using their divorce to embezzle money.

In December, Tom and his law firm Girardi & Keese (GK) were held in civil contempt over allegedly embezzling funds from several families who lost loved ones in a 2018 Boeing plane crash – and had their assets frozen by a judge.

The former couple’s legal controversies recently played out in a new documentary titled ‘The Housewife and the Hustler’, which premiered on Hulu on June 14.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is available to watch on Hayu in Ireland and the UK.
