Danny Masterson’s wife Bijou Phillips files for divorce after prison sentence

Danny Masterson’s wife Bijou Phillips has filed for divorce.

It comes just two weeks after the That ‘70s Show star was sentenced to serve 30 years to life in prison after being convicted for raping two women.

According to documents seen by US media outlets, the actress cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the end of their 12-year marriage.

Bijou’s lawyer confirmed the divorce filing in a statement, saying: “Her priority remains with [their child].”

It added that Danny “was always present for [his wife] during her most difficult times” and “is a wonderful father”.

“She hopes that everyone will respect her family’s privacy in these difficult times,” her lawyer concluded.

The divorce petition reportedly requests full legal and physical custody of their nine-year-old daughter, as well as spousal support.

It also seeks to “terminate the court’s ability to grant support” to Masterson and requests that their assets be divided up as separate property.

Earlier this month, Danny was sentenced to serve 30 years to life in prison for raping two women.

Back in June, the actor, who famously played Steven Hyde in That ’70s Show, was convicted of two counts of forcible rape in 2003.

The actor was initially charged with raping a 23-year-old woman in 2001, a 28-year-old woman in 2003, and another 23-year-old woman the same year.

However, he was only found guilty of two counts of rape after a jury failed to reach a verdict on the third count.

All of the attacks, which he denied, are said to have taken place at his Hollywood home.

Danny and Bijou started dating back in 2004.

The couple got engaged in 2009, and tied the knot in Ireland two years later.

They share one child – daughter named Fianna Francis, whom they welcomed in February 2014.
