Brad Pitt pauses production on upcoming F1 film in support of Hollywood strikes

Brad Pitt has paused production on his upcoming F1 film, in support of the Hollywood strikes.

The Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists’ (SAG-AFTRA) announced an official strike on July 13, after failing to reach an agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers on issues including pay and the use of artificial intelligence.

Hollywood stars are among the 160,000 actors on strike, joining the 11,500 members of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) – who walked out on May 2.

During the strike, actors will not be permitted to promote past projects through conventions, interviews or panels.

Brad, who is working alongside Lewis Hamilton and Kerry Condon on a Formula 1 movie, “very much stands” alongside his fellow actor union members – and has halted filming the project.

According to reports, Brad will play an F1 driver in the film, who emerges from retirement to compete alongside a rookie.

The actor drove a Mercedes-designed car on track at the British Grand Prix this summer as part of the film.

It comes after it was confirmed that the Emmy Awards, which were due to be held in September, have been postponed due to the strikes.

It’s understood actors are seeking better wages, working conditions, and health and pension benefits, plus safeguarding around the use of artificial intelligence in future productions.
