Actress Victoria Smurfit says she lost out on Hollywood role because she turned down a producer

Irish actress Victoria Smurfit has revealed that she lost out a huge film role after she turned down a producer’s advances.

The Dublin star, 43, said the incident happened when she was in her 20s.

After going through a very successful audition for the part, Victoria said she was then asked to have a second audition and the producer invited her out to dinner afterwards.

Speaking to the Sunday Independent, Victoria said while everyone was drinking she “kept pouring my glass into a potted plant because I new I had to be ‘on my game'”.

When the others on the production team went dancing, she said the producer said, “you are coming with me to my hotel room”.

Victoria said she said no and asked the producer to come dancing instead.

“He was very straight and very strong about it. So I legged it back to my hotel,” she revealed.

The actress was then flown to LA to audition for a third time but after the screen test with a “big star” she saw the producer who had tried to bring her to his hotel room, where he told her: “I am done with you”.

Victoria revealed she never got the role. The news comes as the #MeToo and #TimesUp movement heats up around the world.
