Saoirse Ronan: 'My childhood friends don't let fame go to my head'

Saoirse Ronan has revealed her childhood friends keep her grounded.

Although the Hollywood starlet has been appearing on the big screen for over a decade, she admitted her pals don’t let her get too big for her boots.

“My best friend who I’ve known since I was like one year old, this is one of the first films that she’s actually sat through that I’ve been in. And she’s actually going to see it again,” she said.

“And that’s a big thing for Amy. Amy’s never gone to see my films.”

The Carlow beauty joked the key to staying grounded in the entertainment industry is having: “terrible friends who don’t support anything you do”.

Although the 21-year-old’s early acclaim as an actress, the Brooklyn star shied away from being apart of the young Hollywood party scene.

“I think to a certain extent it depends on the kind of work you do,” she told Vulture magazine.

“I think that can really reflect the kind of attention you may get from the media.”
