PICS: Well-known faces attend the opening night of Waitress in the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre

A host of well-known faces attended the opening night of Waitress in the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre on Wednesday evening.

The smash hit musical, which was originally due to take place in November 2021, was rescheduled due to the pandemic and it continues until Saturday June 18, 2022.

Spotted on the evening was Model Kerri Nicole and her fiancé Keith Malone, who were enjoying a date night at the show ahead of their forthcoming wedding in August.

Chef Louise Lennox from the television show The Restaurant, Paul Ryder, Brendan O Loughlin, Deric Hartigan and designer Eamonn McGill also stepped out on the pink carpet on the night.

Waitress is based on the 2007 movie written by Adrienne Shelley. Music and lyrics are written by GRAMMY award-winning, singer-songwriter sensation Sara Bareilles with a book by Jessie Nelson, direction by Tony-award winner Diane Paulus and choreography by Lorin Latarro, Waitress has garnered multiple awards and nominations in both America and the UK, receiving acclaim from both audiences and critics alike.

Chelsea Halfpenny (previously Amy Wyatt in Emmerdale) stars as Jenna in the smash-hitromantic musical comedy. Chelsea joins Wendy May Brown as ‘Becky’ and Evelyn Hoskins as ‘Dawn.

Waitress tells the story of Jenna, an expert pie maker in a small town, who dreams of a way out of her loveless marriage.

A baking contest in a nearby county and the town’s new doctor may offer her a chance at a new life, while her fellow waitresses offer their own recipes to happiness.But Jenna must find the courage and strength within herself to rebuild her life. This beautiful musical celebrates friendship, motherhood, and the magic of a well-made pie.
