Listeners in tears as Today FM pays special tribute to Tony Fenton

Today FM staged the biggest live performance in the history of Irish radio today – paying tribute to their dear colleague Tony Fenton who passed away in March this year.

The station gathered 100 musicians into their studio to perform U2’s hit One in aid of the Irish Cancer Society which caused an emotional reaction from listeners.

The special recording also marked the launch of the Today FM album, Whole Lotta Live which features the best of the live sessions from the station.

 

The compilation album, which goes on sale today is in aid of the cancer charity and in memory of Tony Fenton. Today’s One at 1 performance included a 40 piece choir and bands including The Academic, Hudson Taylor, Delorentos as well as Róisín O and Ham Sandwich.   Listeners took to Twitter in their droves to share their thoughts of the incredible tribute.
