EXCLUSIVE! Bressie opens up about Blizzards reunion as he reveals he's returning to the studio

Bressie has revealed that he is ready to return to music with his band The Blizzards.

The Mullingar man had huge success with the band before taking a break six years ago and admitted he used to hate playing live sessions.

“For me, I didn’t like playing live, I hated it, I didn’t like music so I stopped,” he told Goss.ie.

And so until that hunger comes back I’m not going to do it again because you have to be into it, you have to commit to it,” he revealed.

“Now it’s back and I kind of feel I’m missing playing live, I’m missing writing again so I think when you’re passionate about it, it makes it easier, music is my first love,” he added.

Speaking at RTÉ 2 launch of the Autumn schedule it was revealed Bressie will have his own mental health documentary aired.

He explained that he never split from his former band and that they don’t have any bad blood

“We never broke up. I think people think that’s a really strange thing to say because we haven’t gigged in six years but we grew up together, we didn’t fight, we didn’t have any of that stuff, we just realised it all got too intense,” he explained.

The 34-year-old singer said that the band became too commercialised and lost their original sound and love for the music but their tight bond means they may return to the stage some day.

“We all put ourselves under pressure to do a certain things in a certain time and if we do get back we’re just going to have the f**king craic, no expectations, no gun to our head about radio or label, we want to go back to being a garage band , being raw not trying to please other people, it’s what we started to do towards the end.

“If you start doing that as a musician you can hang up your guitar so it’s good to have that feeling back. The fact that we were honest which each other all the time kept it all together, so we will see what happens,” he added.
