Aidan Turner picks up the Impact Award at NTA's and social media EXPLODES

Poldark actor Aidan Turner has picked up the Impact Award at the NTA’s in London – admitting he’s “confused” by the honour.

Becoming the topic of many’s watercooler discussions after his character Ross Poldark’s shirtless scything scene went viral, the BBC star seemed bemused about getting the TV Moment of the Year accolade.

“Thank you, I’m slightly confused, I didn’t know I was nominated for this award. I didn’t know there was an Impact Award,” he said.

“I’m not sure why I’m here, I’m glad to be, and who knows, this might be the only one I get so I’m delighted.”

Referencing the scything scenes which catapulted him to heartthrob status overnight, the 32-year-old thanked the cast and crew upon receiving his award.

“I guess the scything scenes kind of speak for themselves, there’s little to say there, but the rest of the cast, it’s such a delight to be in this show, we have such talented people,” he told the crowd.

However social media didn’t seem surprised by his win with fans taking to Twitter acknowledging what true impact the Dubliner had on them:
