Saoirse Ronan has pushed back her Broadway debut so she can attend the Oscars.

Starring in a revival of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, producers have pushed back the preview date so that she can attend the Academy Awards.

The 21-year-old is nominated for Best Actress for her performance in Brooklyn at this years event – so naturally the awards ceremony is not something that can be missed.

According to Broadway.com, the stage play was intended to start performances on February 29, but will now begin March 1 with it’s opening night also being moved to March 31 – accommodating Saoirse to attend the event.

Also starring Ben Whishaw and Sophie Okonedo, the play is set during the Salem witch trials of the 1690s, the play tells tales of morality, deceit and ignorance.

The drama focuses on Saoirse’s character Abigail Williams, a young woman so obsessed with John Proctor that she is determined to have his wife burned at the stake.

The Crucible will run a strict 20-week engagement until July 17 at the Walter Kerr Theatre.
