Katie Price has defended taking Gareth Gates’ virginity whilst 6 months pregnant.
The singer was 17 years old when he had s*x with a then-23-year-old Katie.
However, Gareth initially denied the encounter over fears his family would not approve.
When asked about the incident on the podcast Anything Goes with James English, Katie revealed: “I took his virginity when I was six months’ pregnant.”
As James shook his head, Katie then quipped: “What? You’re asking me. What you looking at, because I was pregnant?”
“Just because I’m pregnant, don’t say I can’t have a boyfriend.”
The couple’s relationship was short-lived and they had split up by the time Katie welcomed her first son Harvey with ex boyfriend Dwight Yorke.
The singer finally opened up about their fling on the Big Reunion in 2014 and admitted: “We saw each other for three or four months and it was fun, she is a really lovely lovely girl.”
“I denied the whole Jordan thing because I was 17, I didn’t want my family to find out about my sex life.”
“If I hadn’t have lied it wouldn’t have been a big deal, my family, friends and fans wouldn’t have felt as let down I guess.”
The Unchained Melody singer explained: “For me I was very young, I had to say I don’t want to have a long term relationship at this age, so she sold the story, and I said it was all lies.”
“The only thing I thought in my head to do was say it had never happened, I felt I had to because I didn’t want my family to know about my sex life, I didn’t tell anyone my family or friends, so they all backed me.”
Gareth did admit that the fling did had a lasting impact on his fame in a candid conversation with his mother, Wendy.
Wendy said: “We chose to believe it didn’t happen. The reaction of people was awful, that people were talking about my son like that.”
Gareth reflected: “I certainly had to warm people back to me, after not being honest with people.”
He also told new! magazine: “It wasn’t too long after that I decided to take a break from the industry.”
