Period dramas proved very popular last year with former Love/Hate stars Tom Vaughan Lawlor and Aidan  Gillen both lighting up the screen in Charlie while Aidan also impressed in Game of Thrones.
Domhnall Gleeson has become one of Hollywood’s brightest young actors with big roles in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Revenant.
Dublin actor Jack Reynor is one of Ireland’s hottest actors and gave a very impressive performance as Malcolm in Macbeth.
Meanwhile, Colin Farrell won rave reviews for his leading role in quirky indie movie The Lobster and HBO drama True Detective while Michael Fassbender got an Oscar nod for critical hit Steve Jobs.
