Eamonn Holmes and his wife Ruth Langsford have reportedly been questioned as part of the independent inquiry into the Phillip Schofield scandal.
Jane Mulcahy KC is leading an external review of the facts after the presenter’s sudden departure from This Morning, following reports of a rumoured feud between himself and his co-host Holly Willoughby.
Phillip later parted ways with ITV and his talent agency YMU, after admitting to having an affair with a younger male colleague.
Amid the fallout, former This Morning host Eamonn accused ITV bosses of a “cover up”.
Over the weekend, The Sun reported that Jane Mulcahy KC had not yet spoken to Eamonn and Ruth about their former colleague’s affair.
A source told the outlet: “Eamonn has extensive knowledge of the atmosphere at This Morning and has said before he thought Phil’s affair was ‘covered up’. He and Ruth were working on the show while it was going on.”
“The fact he doesn’t appear to have been approached is leading to confusion as he could be key in helping engender change at ITV.”
“If he and Ruth aren’t asked about what they know, it appears the investigation into This Morning and what went on may not be as thorough as people first believed it would be,” the insider added.
However, a source has since told The Mirror that the previous report “isn’t true”, and that Eamonn and Ruth HAVE been quizzed.
A source also told the publication that Holly “fully complied and cooperated with everything that has been asked of her by the KC”.
“Holly was more than happy to do what was asked of her, and explain her position, and what she knew, and what she didn’t.”
