Katie Hopkins axed from celebrity version of Big Brother in Australia

Katie Hopkins has been axed from the celebrity version of Big Brother in Australia.

The 46-year-old jetted to Australia this week to appear on the show, and was placed into two weeks of mandatory hotel quarantine.

But the TV personality has since been axed from the line up, after she allegedly admitted to disobeying quarantine rules during an Instagram Live.

According to the Associated Press, Katie said she was taunting guards, and opening her hotel room door without a mask.

The Seven Network, which airs Big Brother in Australia, has since confirmed Katie will not appear in the upcoming series.

In a statement, they said: “Seven Network and Endemol Shine Australia confirm that Katie Hopkins is not part of Big Brother VIP.”

“Seven and Endemol Shine strongly condemn her irresponsible and reckless comments in hotel quarantine.”

The news comes after Australia’s immigration minister Alex Hawke claimed Katie’s actions were being investigated in a post shared on Twitter.

Sharing a story about Katie’s alleged actions, he tweeted: “With NSW & Victoria in lockdown, a reminder that temporary visa holders must obey public health orders.”

“Australian Border Force is reviewing this matter. Where visa conditions are breached, individuals may face visa cancellation in accordance with the law.”

A spokeswoman also told PA news agency: “The NSW Police Force is working closely with Australian Border Force to ascertain whether the visa to enter Australia provided to a 46-year-old woman from the United Kingdom remains valid.”

“The NSW Police Force will assist with any operational requirements to assist the woman to return to her country of origin if it is deemed necessary.”
