Mel C has said that the Spice Girls never asked Victoria Beckham back for their reunion.
Fans of the girlband were disappointed when the news was revealed that Posh Spice wouldn’t be returning for their reunion tour, but it turns out that she might not have been asked.
When the foursome appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday night, Mel C admitted that Victoria was “not actually asked” to rejoin the group.
“Do you know what’s actually quite funny, I saw Victoria recently and obviously we’ve all been in contact, she’s very much part of the Spice Girls, she really supports us and we really support her,” she told the host.
“But she did raise the point that she was never actually asked…we just presumed,” she admitted.
While the other bandmates objected to the singer’s claim, Geri Horner interjected and said: “I spoke to her before the announcement and she has said it for years that she just doesn’t want to do it anymore, so we knew that.”
Emma Bunton then stated that they did ask her and Geri explained that Victoria was just busy with her fashion business.
It doesn’t seem like there are any hard feeling between the bandmates and Posh Spice though, as she wished them well with an emotional statement on Instagram, following the announcement of their reunion.
“Being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish them so much love and fun as they go back on tour next year.”
The Spice Girls’ U.K. tour sold out within minutes yesterday, while fans around the world are hoping that the iconic girl group will add more dates outside of Britain.
