Liam Payne has revealed that he was robbed at knifepoint at the age of 12, and that he’s “lucky” to be alive.

In a bid to raise awareness about knife crime, the 25-year-old recalled the time he and his friend were approached by a “6ft2 guy” with a “massive hunting knife” in Bilston, near Wolverhampton.

Liam told the Mirror, “It was one of the scariest things I have ever been through in my life.”

“I was lucky, but so many aren’t… Something needs to be done. We’ve reached unprecedented levels of people losing their lives.”

Liam and his friend gave the man everything they had in their wallets, before they managed to escape by running as fast as they could, and jumping on the first bus they came across.

The singer continued, “It’s really important that parents are talking to their kids, and that schools are running programmes with people who have been affected by knife crime.”
