Declan Donnelly is preparing to host Britain’s Got Talent alone when it returns next month.

After it was revealed that the TV presenter will front the last two episodes of Saturday Night Takeaway without his co-host Ant McPartlin, who has entered rehab following his drink-driving arrest, it’s been confirmed that Dec will host BGT alone too.

This Morning’s Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford were told by showbiz reporter Gordon Smart that Dec will host Britain’s Got Talent solo.

“There are pre-records with Ant involved but we spoke to Simon Cowell’s people and what looks like is going to happen is Dec will go on on his own when the show returns in April.

“It has been a huge week… It is a really interesting time to see what will happen for him next. In two weeks’ time, next Saturday, he will be back on his own.”

Dec is currently in talks with ITV about whether he should address Ant’s absence on the upcoming episode of Saturday Night Takeaway.

Sources told The Mirror, “Takeaway is all about fun and laughter so they can’t dwell on bad news, but it will be odd if they don’t reference Ant and his issues.”

“Dec will want to pay tribute to his pal in some way, but getting the balance right is crucial. Fans will love to hear how Ant is getting on as well.”

When Saturday Night Takeaway returns, Dec will be supported by co-presenters Stephen Mulhern and Scarlett Moffatt.

Paloma Faith will be performing the End Of The Show Show, and The Script will also perform for Singalong Live.
