Xpose Aisling's cancer-battling partner offered life-saving bone marrow

Xpose star Aisling O’Loughlin’s cancer-struck partner Nick McInnes has been offered life-saving bone marrow from his brother.

Australia-based Alex McInnes, 44, has vowed he will make the donation if the 47-year-old’s leukaemia treatment fails.

TV3 presenter Aisling said: “The bone marrow can only come from Alex because he is Nick’s brother.

“When the doctors brought it up, I thought ‘poor Alex’, but when Nick mentioned it to him, Alex didn’t even think about it. He said ‘absolutely’.

“It’s amazing when a terrible thing happens like this, people show what heroes they are.”

And Aisling – who has two young sons with Nick – told the Irish Sun that Alex won’t even have to come to Dublin after tests have shown in Sydney that he is a perfect match.

She added: “It’s incredible the way the system is set up where the hospital in Dublin can contact the one in Sydney and tell them what they need.

“Alex won’t even have to fly back to Ireland, it can all be done in Australia.

“It’s just a little uncomfortable for the person who is giving bone marrow but it regenerates, and the bone marrow is then transplanted into Nick’s body.”

The Ballymount host, 35, added that he is “responding well” to the cancer treatment but is taking nothing for granted.
