Ronan O'Gara admits he was a 'bit of a w**ker' when playing rugby

Ronan O’Gara has admitted that people thought he was a “bit of a w**ker” when playing rugby.

The former Munster and Ireland player revealed there was a negative public perception of him when he performed on the pitch.

“The perception of me when I was playing was cranky, narky, arrogant, bit of a w**ker,” he said.

The 38-year-old has become a TV pundit since retiring but revealed it isn’t a hard job and he enjoys the perks.

“I essentially get paid to sit on my arse and watch the team. It’s great,” he told the Off The Ball team.

“You live like a king. You’ve great facilities, you sit down, you’ve runners getting you tea, coffee, purple snacks, yellow snacks, sandwiches, chips.”

The fly-half landed himself in hot water earlier this year when he made a crude reference to his wife on The Late Late Show.

“I wouldn’t be nervous getting up on Jessica but I would be nervous kicking a ball,” he told Ryan Tubridy. 

The Cork man later took to Twitter to apologise for his slip of the tongue.

“Back home in Paris. I have apologised to @jessieog and i’m also sorry if i offended anyone else with my very poor joke on @RTELateLateShow,” he tweeted.
