The Price Is Right set for surprise return with Irish version

The Price Is Right is set to return to our television screens – but this time it’ll be based in Ireland.

Kite Productions, who make hit show Gogglebox, are behind the plan to re-make the popular quiz show for TV3 – and just like the original, contestants will win cash and prizes by guessing the price of retail items.

The Price Is Right first aired in the US in the 1950s, but went down a hit with viewers when Bruce Forsyth hosted it on ITV back in the ’80s.

An industry source told the Irish Sun, “The Price Is Right is a proven hit so it will be good for TV3. But nothing is signed yet and the deal is still at the earliest stages.”

Strong contender: Simon has already been rumoured to host an Irish version of The Price Of Right | VIPIRELAND.COM

The news comes after Al Porter was announced as the host of TV3’s brand new show Blind Date, which got the green light from programme chief Bill Malone.

The insider said, “First there was Blind Date, now there’s talk of The Price Is Right. Bill Malone is starting to deliver at TV3 with proven formats he knows can take on RTE.”

So far, TV3 regulars Lucy Kennedy and Simon Delaney are rumoured to be in the running to host the show – as well as Ray Foley, Alan Hughes and Panti Bliss.
