Niall Horan: 'I'm the WORST celebrity in the world… I'm not about to splash the cash and make a fool of myself'

One Direction star Niall Horan has admitted he’s the “worst celebrity in the world” – and enjoys a day out “going to Tesco”.

The 1D sensation insisted stars can stay away from the paparazzi – and would be a member of the band “for a tenner”.

And Niall, 21, said that despite now being a multimillionaire with a “car and a nice house” he isn’t “about to splash the cash and make a fool of myself”.

He said: “Aside from performing you would probably say I’m the worst celebrity in the world. You can stay away from the paparazzi, I’ve done it for four years.

“I do my job, go home then mostly sit in my house. My day out is going to Tesco. I could go out every night but I’d rather pay £4 for a quiet pint up the road, watching Sky Sports.

“Obviously we’ve earned a great living from the band, so I know I’m very lucky, but there’s no reason why it should change who you are.

“I’ve a car and a nice house, but I’d say I’ve simple tastes. I’m not about to splash the cash and make a fool of myself. Besides, I’d do this job for a tenner.”

Meanwhile Niall has told in 1D’s autobiography how he gets incredibly nervous before going on a TV show to perform – not play in front of millions of people.

He added: “I get so tense I’m often close to puking. We started off on a TV show so I should be at home there, but every time we do telly it riddles me with nerves.

Worst celebrity ever: Niall would do the job for a tenner

“I’m petrified from the minute I get in the dressing room to the second we walk out on to the set. I don’t know why — and it’s getting worse.

“I just spiral into this one massive bag of nerves. Then, when the next show comes along, it starts again, only worse. Maybe it’s because it feels quite intimate? I don’t like singing in front of small crowds.

“In 2013, when we were invited to perform at the American Music Awards, I was in a state about singing a song I was usually comfortable with.

“Then before we went out, Justin Timberlake was coming off after collecting an award and I remember saying to the lads: “Is that the calibre of people here?”

“To make matters worse, as he walked off Justin came over to say hello and I was bricking it, nearly swallowing my own puke. I was fine in the end, but it’s draining being that nervous.”
