Michael McIntyre opens up about hammer attack during Dublin gig

Michael McIntyre opened up about the hammer attack he was caught up in this week during his gig in Dublin.

The comedian performed for the first time since the mugging last night and made reference to the scary experience several times throughout his 3Arena gig. Two muggers, who later escaped on mopeds, smashed through the window of his Range Rover with  hammer and stole his Rolex as he waite to collect his children from school.

As soon as he came out on stage he revealed that it was “hit and miss” if he was going to go ahead with the show at all. He joked that he was “lucky to be alive, and that he knew a big Irish hug would do him the world of good.”

McIntyre went on to say that if he had all the Irish behind him at the incident he would have been protected, “the Irish would be jumping out of bushes defending me.”

He also added that a couple of his jokes were about driving and telling the time, and he forgot that it would obviously bring up memories from the attack. Michael also said he’ll now be investing in shatter-proof windows and a cheaper watch.
