Hit US show announces open casting call for filming in Ireland

Hit US series Into The Badlands, which stars Irish actress Sarah Bolger, are looking to cast thousands of extras for roles in the show’s third season, which starts filming in Ireland this September.

MovieExtras.ie announced an open casting call, and they’re looking for martial artists, gymnasts, dancers and physically fit/active adults for some “epic battle scenes”.

In particular, they’re looking for Asian, black and Hispanic adults for a number of roles in the series – and all applicants must be over 18, and available for filming in both Dublin and Wicklow over the next nine months.

Those who are cast for the fight scenes will attend a rehearsal day with the show’s stunt team, and will learn first hand from Rudolf Vrba, who has worked on the likes of James Bond, Wonder Woman and Thor.

Derek Quinn, managing director of MoviesExtras.ie, told RTÉ Entertainment, “This is a great opportunity to work behind the scenes of a major production and to be part of a really popular US TV series.

“Also, a great way to get some extra cash for Christmas. Generally the pay for a day will be €100 (ranging from €83 to €130). You could be on set four or five times a month, so you could earn as much as €2,000 before the New Year.”

Into The Badlands, which premiered in November 2015, follows a warrior and a young boy, who journey through a dangerous feudal land together seeking enlightenment.

The series delivered the third highest-rated first season in U.S. cable TV history, with over 2 million viewers per episode.
