Diana Bunici reveals traumatic sexual assault she experienced as a teenager

Diana Bunici revealed that she was sexually assaulted on a bus when she was only 19.

The 29-year-old spoke out about the traumatic experience when ”one of the happiest days of my life was turned upside down by the vile intentions of a horrendously entitled stranger sitting beside me.”

The RTÉ star wrote on her blog about the experience, and explained that she had just finished her first acting job when the horrific incident occurred.

She wrote in her blog, ”I felt his fingers creeping further and further up my thigh. I was wearing a jumper dress and the flimsy barrier of my tights did little to mask the unsettling warmth of his touch.”

“For the rest of the journey I sat shaking silently, heart and mind racing. “I wanted to vomit. I felt dirty. I felt angry and I felt very, very confused.”

Diana spoke out in light of recent news and escalating conversations started by the Harvey Weinstein accusations. She felt it was her ‘responsibility’ to share her experience.

“As a young woman, I feel it’s my responsibility to look out for other young women. To let them know that they are not alone and that it’s not their fault; that they shouldn’t carry a guilt, fear and shame that was so unfairly subjected onto them.”
