Amy Huberman opens up on disappointment of losing U.S. series

Amy Huberman has opened up about losing out on a role that would have seen her move to LA.

The Dublin actress was cast in comedy series Animal Practice, but was dropped after the series got green lit.

“It was weird because I didn’t realise how that’s more of a factor sometimes in American television, that you could just get replaced. I was like, ‘Oh, that’s weird’.

“I had never experienced it and I was disappointed. There were certain things that just didn’t fit. When I look back on it, it taught me so much,” she told Jarlath Regan on his Irish Man Abroad podcast.

But since being dropped from the show Amy said she looks at the whole auditioning process in a different way.

“It changed the way I look at auditioning over there. I do it more to suit myself.”

“Sometimes the disappointments take you by surprise.

“This week I got really close to something I wanted and I actually surprised myself with my level of disappointment,” she explained.

“I allow myself to feel it but then you have to get over it. Moving on gets easier because you have to. It’s a currency of the game. No one wants to listen to somebody wallowing.

“I think it’s really important to be honest about the reality of it. I’ve had so many close calls,” she added.
