Jay Z admits his relationship with Beyoncé ‘wasn’t totally built on truth’

Jay Z has admitted that his relationship with Beyoncé “wasn’t totally built on the 100 per cent truth”.

Speaking in a video promoting his new album 4:44 on Tidal, the rapper gets candid about ‘cracks’ that started to appear in their marriage – that the public started to see.

“This is my real life,” he said. “I just ran into this place and we built this big, beautiful mansion of a relationship that wasn’t totally built on the 100 per cent truth and it starts cracking.

“Things start happening that the public can see. Then we had to get to a point of, ‘OK, tear this down and let’s start from the beginning… It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done.”

The 47-year-old has five-year-old daughter Blue, and newborn twins Rumi and Sir with Beyoncé.

Cracks started to appear in their marriage back in 2014, when footage was released showing Beyoncé’s sister Solange attacking Jay Z in a lift at New York’s Standard Hotel.

After the footage was leaked all over the world, they released a joint statement insisting that they had “moved forward as a united family”, but, rumours soon surfaced that Jay had been unfaithful.

After remaining relatively out of the public eye, Beyoncé shocked the world in 2016 by releasing her album Lemonade, which heavily hinted at her husband’s infidelity.

And last month, Jay Z appeared to apologise to his wife on his new album 4:44.

The couple started dating after collaborating on Jay Z’s track Bonnie and Clyde back in 2003, and later tied the knot on April 4, 2008 in New York City.
