Love Island’s Amber Davies recalls terrifying ‘out of body experience’ after being spiked on a night out

Amber Davies has opened up about her horrendous experience of being spiked on a night out.

The 27-year-old shot to fame when she appeared on the 2017 series of Love Island, which she won with her then-boyfriend Kem Cetinay.

The Welsh TV personality is fronting a spiking awareness campaign with Malibu, and is using her platform to share her experience and educate others on staying safe on a night out.

The reality star opened up to the MailOnline about the terrifying ordeal, saying: “I got spiked – god I think it was about five or six years ago now.”

“To be honest I couldn’t tell you exactly what happened because for me personally it was a blur.”

“It was an out of body experience,” Amber revealed.

Amber said she counts herself lucky as her friends and her cousin, who happened to be in the pub opposite her, were there to call the emergency services straight away.

“I was with all my friends and it was a nice night but it took a turn for the worst – but that’s how it happens!”

“What they did was they called emergency services straight away and that’s the best thing to do.”

“At that point I don’t think anybody knew what was going on – we didn’t know if I’d had a bad reaction to food, we didn’t know what was going on,” Amber explained.

After visiting her nearest GP, Amber was told to sleep off the symptoms and admitted that she now doesn’t “remember half of it to be honest”.

On the topic of staying safe on a night out, Amber is using the acronym BABES in a bid to help others know what to do when a night out goes south.

“It’s such an important message to get out there but not in a scary way,” she said.

“From my perspective I have so many young female followers that I just think it’s a really important message.”

“For example my baby cousin is going to uni next year and it’s really important for people to know.”

“Everybody knows what to do if there’s a fire – you go to a safe space. So it’s good to know for this situation too.”

Amber admitted that if she knew about this message a couple of years ago, maybe her situation would have turned out different.

Malibu’s brand new campaign is seeking to educate people about spiking.
