Kate Garraway shares emotional message about ‘new beginnings’ following the death of husband Derek Draper

Kate Garraway has shared an emotional message about “new beginnings” following the death of her husband Derek Draper.

The Good Morning Britain star’s husband sadly died back in January, following a long battle with Covid-19.

Marking her first Easter without Derek in a post shared on Instagram, Kate revealed she was working instead of taking part in her family’s usual bank holiday tradition of Easter egg hunting.

Kate took her two kids Darcey, 18, and Billy, 14, on location to enjoy some family time together during the holiday.

She showed off images of a gorgeous lunch and easter egg tree, but didn’t reveal where she was or what she was filming.

She wrote: “Happy Easter everyone! Usually, we have a mega family egg hunt at my Aunty Lynne’s but this year I am actually working – although in a spectacular location & have brought the kids with me so hard to call it ‘work’.”

“Very grateful to be able to have this time and sending love to all who are working today in less glamorous locations – keeping the wheels turning for the rest of us. Hope you find some joy & new hope today & everyday xxx #hope. #newbeginnings #love.”

Kate’s husband, political lobbyist Derek Draper, died following a long health battle caused by Covid-19 in January this year.

In a new heartbreaking ITV documentary, the TV presenter shared the final moments of her husband’s life.

She also revealed that she is facing up to £800,000 in debt, due to the full-time care Derek required while he was ill.
