Red Rock's viewing figures HALVE in just three weeks as punters switch off in droves

Red Rock’s high viewing figures have already halved as the figures continue to decline – after just three weeks on air,

The TV3 soap debuted to an impressive 323,000 viewers on January 6 however the soap is struggling to keep viewers tuned in and had just 165,000 on January 28.

But despite the slump, TV3 bosses insist the figures have surpassed expectations at the station and they are “absolutely delighted how ratings are going.”

The eight episodes that have aired have averaged 226,000 viewers and a 13.42% share.

While TV3’s Director of Content Jeff Ford announced recently he will be leaving the station to return to the UK, he predicted an initial decline in viewers for the series in November.

He said: “It is an extremely exciting and ambitious project. We have a great team and a strong cast.

“But the viewing figures will follow a ‘J Curve’. They will fall after the first few episodes before gradually starting to climb again.”

Red Rock creator Peter McKenna told the Irish Independent., “We’re delighted and heartened by the reaction we have received from not just the general public, but the media and the reviewers.

“People recognise that Red Rock is a modern Irish drama, and that the quality of writing, acting and direction has raised the bar for soap in Ireland.

“We are humbled that the viewers are embracing it. And look forward to building on the loyal audience we already have.”
