Kathryn Thomas admits The Voice could be AXED soon

The Voice of Ireland presenter Kathryn Thomas has admitted she knows the RTE show could get the chop.

Admitting that she’s been hearing the series will be axed “every year since season two”, the bubbly blonde said if something can bring in the same audience- then maybe it should be cancelled.

“RTE have to ensure they are broadcasting the best live television shows for all license fee payers and that means exploring new formats and improving current content.”

“The Voice runs for 17 weeks across the schedule and if something is pitched that can deliver the same or bigger audiences, why shouldn’t it be considered?,” she wrote in the Irish Daily Star.

Admitting that “nobody can argue with the success of The Voice”, the RTE star revealed some new exciting aspects to the show which is in it’s fifth season.

“The new line-up of coaches has freshened things up and we have tweaked the format this year to include live knockouts, where for the first time, there will be no public vote until we get to the quarter finals.”

“That means it is entirely up to the coaches to narrow down their teams. Each week, three artists from every team performs, only one will survive and go through to the quarter finals.”
