An RTE staff member called Kieran Creaven is now “in custody” after an anonymous group focused on catching child predators confronted him in Leads.
Facebook group Predator Exposure shared a Facebook live video, where they confronted the RTE producer.
The group state that he was coming to meet a 13-year-old girl. Kieran can be heard saying he “isn’t a father” and just wanted to meet a child.
However the group continuously point out he shared photos of his penis through web chats.
Kieran was not in fact talking to a 13-year-old girl, but an anonymous group instead, who focus on catching predators.
“Do you talk over radio by any chance? Over radio?” to which he replied: “Sometimes”.
The police were called to the scene where the 54-year-old was taken to custody.
At 5pm this evening the man was charged with “encouraging a girl aged between 13 and 16 to engage in sexual activity”.
In a statement RTE said they were aware of the situation:
“RTE has been made aware of this matter which is being dealt with by Yorkshire police forces in the UK and no further comment will be made at this time.”
Kieran has worked at the broadcaster for over 19 years, working at the London Olympics in 2012, as well as being the Live Studio producer for international football matches.
