Mrs Brown's Boys star Rory Cowen nearly KILLED by carbon monoxide poisoning

Mrs Brown’s Boys star Rory Cowen has revealed he nearly died – after being poisoned by carbon monoxide at home.

The TV comedian discovered over the weekend that his gas boiler has been leaking the killer gas into his home, which had been leaving him sick and tired.

He said: “I’m still in shock from it all. I thought carbon monoxide happened in old dilapidated places, my house is totally rebuilt, it’s brand new.

“The boiler was only put in a year ago. What saved me is that it was located upstairs in a bedroom at the front of the house rather than downstairs in the kitchen. And because it’s been a mild winter, I didn’t have the boiler on much.”

And Rory told the Star he was extremely likely to survive – with pal Avri Citron, a member of Civil Defence, his lifesaver.

He added: “I feel stupid saying this now but I could get the smell of gas occasionally in the house for the past year but I did nothing about it.

“Avri came in and insisted that I call Bord Gais. They sent out an emergency guy with a device which started beeping immediately.

“And he said we had to evacuate the house. It wasn’t the gas – there was toxic levels of carbon monoxide. He told me afterwards that my friend probably saved my life.”
