Marty Whelan has revealed that he had a “horrendous time” when he found himself suddenly unemployed.
The popular Winning Streak host opened up the hard times he’s faced in the industry – admitting he ended up on the dole after loosing his job with Century Radio.
“The dole office was a horrendous time in my life, but it had to be done. Then I went out and did whatever,” he said.

Speaking about his debut book That’s Life, Marty revealed writing the memoir brought back difficult memories.
“The one thing I discovered writing my book, which didn’t occur to me in advance, was that you bring it all to life, you bring the stuff back – that didn’t occur to me,” he told RTÉ Ten.
“I thought I would just remember it and say, ‘here it is, and this is what happened.’Â But yeah, I remembered the stuff and some of it quite vividly and, yeah, it was upsetting.”
